When I arrived at the breakout room, only nine people walked in before they shut the door. I was disappointed, but I delivered my talk anyway.

Afterward, one of the attendees approached me. He said he had never heard anyone talk about health insurance that way before and asked to set up a call with his team. When he handed me his business card, I realized he was the Director of Total Rewards at PepsiCo, a Fortune 50 company. By taking the stage that day, I had opened the door to a huge opportunity.

P – Problems: Discuss the problems your audience faces related to your area of expertise. Help them realize their current state.

A – Answers: Provide the solutions to help them overcome those problems and achieve their goals.

C – Call to Action: Tell the audience what action to take after your talk, whether it’s scheduling a call or downloading a resource. Do this before your closing.

T – Transformation: Close your talk in a way that shifts the audience’s perspective so they leave feeling motivated and thinking differently than when they arrived.

By using the IMPACT formula, you can deliver talks that leave a lasting impression, provide immense value, and compel your audience to engage further with you.
